Disable Personalized Ads

Stop TikTok from using your activity to personalize ads. You'll still see ads, but they won't be targeted based on your behavior.

  • Open TikTok → Profile☰ Menu
  • Tap Settings and privacy
  • Tap PrivacyAds personalization
  • Turn OFF "Personalized ads"

On iOS, also go to Settings → Privacy → Tracking and disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track" for system-wide protection.

2

Reset Your For You Feed

TikTok's algorithm learns from every interaction. You can reset it to start fresh.

  • Go to Settings and privacy
  • Tap Content preferences
  • Tap Refresh your For You feed
  • Confirm the reset

This resets your feed recommendations, but TikTok keeps your historical data. The algorithm will quickly re-learn from new activity.

3

Clear Watch & Search History

Remove your viewing and search history from TikTok's records.

  • Go to Settings and privacyPrivacy
  • Tap Watch history → Clear all
  • Tap Search history → Clear all
  • Consider turning OFF "Save watch history" to prevent future tracking
4

Limit Data Collection

Reduce the amount of data TikTok collects about you.

  • Location: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Set to "Never" or "While Using"
  • Contacts: Settings → Privacy → Sync contacts → Turn OFF
  • Activity Status: Settings → Privacy → Activity status → Turn OFF
  • Off-TikTok activity: Settings → Privacy → Off-TikTok activity → Turn OFF

On your phone's settings (not in-app), you can also revoke TikTok's access to microphone, camera, and photos when not actively recording.
