What Mirror Does

Mirror is a privacy tool that helps you understand what data social platforms have collected about you. When you upload your data export to Mirror:

• The file is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript
• No data is sent to any server
• No data is stored anywhere outside your device
• Analysis results exist only in your browser session

Supported Platforms

Mirror currently analyzes data exports from:

• Instagram — Advertisers, ad interests, topics, location data
• Facebook — Off-Facebook activity, ad interests, advertisers, topics
• TikTok — Watch history, hashtags, searches, sounds
• LinkedIn — Inferred traits, ad targeting, advertisers, search history

All platforms use the same local-only processing approach.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to:

• Your data export files from any platform
• The contents of your social media profiles
• Your analysis results
• Any personal information from your data
• Email addresses (except for optional reminder feature)
• Payment information (Mirror is free)

Technical Implementation

Mirror uses client-side JavaScript to:

• Read your uploaded ZIP file using the File API
• Parse JSON files using JSZip library
• Generate analysis and visualizations in your browser
• Create shareable images using html2canvas (locally)

All processing happens in your browser's memory. When you close the tab, all data is gone.

Website Analytics

Our website may use basic analytics to understand traffic patterns (page views, referrers). These analytics:

• Do not track individual users
• Do not use cookies for tracking
• Do not correlate with your Instagram data analysis

Third-Party Services

Mirror loads the following external resources:

• Google Fonts — for typography (Inter, JetBrains Mono)
• Lucide Icons — for UI icons
• JSZip — for reading ZIP files
• html2canvas — for generating shareable images

These libraries are loaded from CDNs but do not have access to your Instagram data.

Shareable Images

When you generate a shareable image of your results:

• The image is created locally in your browser
• It contains only summary statistics (numbers), not raw data
• Sharing is optional and initiated only by you
• We do not store or have access to generated images

Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) don't apply to Mirror. You have complete control because your data never leaves your device.
